About Orimeeze
A small Christchurch cattery, devoted to the Oriental and Siamese breeds.
Orimeeze is a small NZCF registered Christchurch cattery devoted to Oriental and Siamese cats, with a focus on health, temperament, and the elegant breed type we love. Every breeding cat is DNA tested to give our kittens the best possible start.
Our cats are part of our everyday life, sharing our home and growing up in a warm, family environment. From their very first days, our kittens are raised with care, attention, and plenty of love, helping them become confident, affectionate companions.
My Journey with Oriental and Siamese Cats
My journey with the Oriental breed began in 1993 when I welcomed Kaos (Ladyluck Hot Chocolate) into my life. Kaos, an Oriental Havana, truly lived up to his name and quickly sparked a lifelong passion for this extraordinary breed. Over the following two years, my love deepened with the addition of two more Ladyluck Havana kittens.
By 1996, I had developed a strong desire to begin breeding Orientals. This dream felt within reach when I purchased Lissy (Ladyluck Savannah Rose). Unfortunately, due to health complications, Lissy had to be spayed, and my breeding plans were put on hold before they had the chance to begin.
Although life circumstances delayed my breeding ambitions, my dedication to the breed never wavered. I continued to share my life with Oriental cats and became involved in the show scene, successfully exhibiting my cats in neuter and spay classes.
A highlight of my showing career came in 2008, when I campaigned Ellie (Shibumi Electra), a Chocolate Spotted Lynx, who achieved #1 Siamese/Oriental Neuter/Spay Cat of the Year. Alongside her, Tella (Noccioletti Ima Yummy Cinnabun), a Cinnamon Oriental, placed #3 - an accomplishment I remain very proud of.
Following another shift in life, I took a break from showing, though my passion for the breed never faded. Over the years, many Orientals continued to pass through my home, each one reinforcing my admiration for their intelligence, elegance, and unique personalities.
In 2023, I welcomed my first Siamese, Bella (Bentara Arabella Klemintine), a beautiful Chocolate Point who brought a new dimension to my love of these breeds.
Around this time, the idea of breeding began to grow once again. That long-held dream was finally realised in mid-2025 with the arrival of Ginny (Nomices Hot Off The Press), a stunning Cinnamon Oriental. Ginny represents the culmination of a 29-year journey - a dream nurtured over decades and finally brought to life.

Our breeding philosophy
Health first.
All Orimeeze breeding cats are DNA tested, and we follow NZ Cat Fancy guidelines - prioritising health, longevity, and temperament over volume.
Raised in our home.
Our kittens are gently introduced into a relaxed household environment. Growing alongside our desexed Siamese cats and New Zealand Heading Dog, supports their confidence, social skills, and easy transition into family life.
Fully prepared for life.
Kittens remain with us until at least twelve weeks of age. They leave desexed, double vaccinated, microchipped, and registered with both the New Zealand Companion Animal Register and New Zealand Cat Fancy, with all documentation provided. We also offer lifelong support to every Orimeeze family.
Our foundation queen, Ginny was born in Auckland in 2024 to a sire imported from Canada - a Gold Double Grand Champion. Her pedigree carries Canadian, Australian, USA and Russian lines. She is a cinnamon Oriental Shorthair with the temperament and breed type we wanted to build our programme around. we recently welcomed our new stud, Gunnar, imported from Perth - bringing fresh, carefully chosen bloodlines into New Zealand and complementing Ginny's pedigree.
